India

India is an immensely beautiful and fascinating country. Indian culture is an unique combination of it’s rich and diverse subcultures. This diversity of culture is seen in all aspects of daily Indian life, especially India’s religions, India’s languages, India’s cuisine, India’s art and India’s architecture.

 

Dating back to 8,000 BC, the Indian civilization is considered the oldest living civilization on earth. The Indus valley civilization was the largest ancient civilization in the world. The Rig Veda, which is the oldest existing book in any language, dates back almost 4,000 years. Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism started in India. Other world religions of Islam, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Bahai and Judaism have substantial following in India.

 

India is the second most populated country in the world. There is a large diaspora of Indian and people of Indian origin spread across the world. There are 1,500 “mother tongues” or Indian languages spoken in India.
